Impulso Podcast: The Importance of Product Designers in Creating Innovative Products with Tatiane Lima

Excerpt:

Tatiane Lima: Currently, I’m working for a company, as you mentioned, in the United States, with amazing people that I previously worked with at Hé, now Impulso.  I’m in this feeling of creating a product from scratch again. This is one of my current challenges, to make a product vision a reality and see it materialize. It’s a fantastic journey, and now, with more detail, I’m learning alongside everyone because each of these challenges allowed me to gain experience.

Our main challenge is transforming a technological novelty into a marketable product. Our main product, Prisma, allows computation on encrypted data. To give an example, imagine a company’s HR department, dealing with extremely sensitive data; any leak could be a serious issue. You want to conduct certain analyses, like gender-based salary analyses, using highly sensitive data. In today’s world, where data is considered one of the greatest assets, this is our current context. Our technology allows a person to compute on encrypted data, meaning you don’t receive the raw data; you receive access that allows you to create grouped data without being able to identify specific individuals. So, my current challenge, along with the product team, is to package this technology into a product that makes sense, has a target audience, and pays off.

The whole process involves translating something extremely technical into a product that people understand, find valuable, and are willing to pay for, all while complying with data protection laws. This is a complex challenge that combines technology, user experience, business strategy, and regulatory compliance…
